Our Story

Welcome to Save the Poor International (SPI)! SPI is a charitable non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization (NGO) legally registered with the Registrar General’s Department and the Department of Social Welfare in the Republic of Ghana. SPI is located in Bepong Kwahu near Mpraseo in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It is in compliance with the national guidelines for the operation of NGOs and Private Voluntary Organizations.

Since its establishment in August 2006, Save the Poor International (SPI) has focused on activities within rural communities in the Eastern, Bono, Bono East, Oti, Ashanti, Central, Ahafo, Savanna and Greater Accra Regions of Ghana. SPI has the desire of expanding operations to other regions in Ghana.

Save the Poor International (SPI) develops and implements community-based programs in areas such as health, education, welfare of orphans, street children, widows and persons with disabilities. SPI also organizes volunteer programs, international youth exchange programs, information technology and community computer literacy projects and rural development projects.

As part of our educational programmes, we distribute and donate school supplies, computers, laptops, library books, humanitarian aid and other social support materials to rural community schools and institutions in Ghana. As one of the most active community services organizations in Ghana, we believe that we have a responsibility to give hope to those without it, feed the hungry, give comfort to the afflicted, visit the forgotten and imprisoned and finally give shelter and support to those who have the very least. SPI offers assistance through its programmes and projects to the homeless, orphans, persons with disabilities, street children, prisoners, widows, individuals and others with psychological and emotional and social problems.

SPI offers assistance and medical donations to rural communities in Ghana and has impacted positively on the lives of inhabitants of these communities through our health programmes and donations. As a leader in the fight against poverty in urban and the rural communities in Ghana, our cutting-edge programs and resources have helped many hundreds of poor people. SPI endeavours to serve all needy people and communities regardless of their colour, sex, religion, race or nationality.
